Thymosin Alpha-1

Physician-Prescribed Peptide for Immune Modulation

Thymosin Alpha-1 through BreakthruRx is physician-evaluated, sourced from real compounding pharmacies, and straight with you about where the regulatory picture actually stands.

You’ve probably already got the pitch: immune support, T-cells, help bouncing back from chronic illness. The hard part is figuring out what’s real versus what’s just supplement-aisle noise. That’s what this page is for.

Thymosin Alpha-1 Product Overview

The active compound is thymalfasin, pharmaceutical-grade Thymosin Alpha-1, chemically identical to what your body already makes.

Reconstituted with bacteriostatic water for subcutaneous injection. Every vial’s labeled with compound identity, concentration, and lot number. No blends, nothing hidden.

This one’s got an unusually long track record for a peptide  decades of international use, over 11,000 patients across more than 30 clinical trials, approved in 35-plus countries under the name Zadaxin, mostly for chronic hepatitis B and as immune support during cancer treatment. It’s never gone through FDA approval here, so any use in the US is off-label, on clinical judgment. What the international data shows fairly consistently is T-cell maturation, better natural killer cell activity, and cytokine signaling that leans toward regulated rather than runaway.

The most studied protocol is 1.6 mg subcutaneous, twice a week, running for three to six months, depending on what’s being treated. Same days each week tend to help. Injection sites rotate between the abdomen and outer thigh, insulin syringe just under the skin. Your provider walks you through the first one before you do it solo. If something feels off after, stop, call your provider.

Every vial ships from an FDA-registered compounding pharmacy with a traceable supply chain. No proprietary blends. A licensed provider evaluates you before anything gets prescribed. Batches are third-party tested before they ever reach a patient. And it’s available through Breakthru Rx virtually or in person across Denver, Parker, Aurora, Centennial, Lone Tree, Castle Rock, and Highlands Ranch.

Each batch gets third-party tested for potency, sterility, and contaminants, and none of it goes out without a physician’s prescription behind it. Sourcing only comes from suppliers who can document that chain from production through delivery.

Thymalfasin is produced through synthetic peptide synthesis to match the 28-amino acid sequence your thymus naturally produces. Outside the US, it’s manufactured under pharmaceutical GMP standards for markets where it holds full approval (Zadaxin). In the US, compounding pharmacies prepare it from bulk substance under 503A guidelines, when that substance is authorized for compounding.

Our products come from 503A compliant facilites.

Worth being straight about where things actually stand, regulation-wise, the picture’s moved around a lot. The FDA restricted Thymosin Alpha-1 from compounding in 2023. It was briefly removed from that restricted list in late 2024, then landed back under restriction. In February 2026, HHS signaled it would move back to fully legal compounding status, but the FDA still hasn’t published the formal updated list as of this writing, and a formal advisory committee review is happening this month. In practice, access depends on which compounding pharmacy network you’re working with. Ask your provider where things stand when you talk to them  fair question, honest answer, not a brush-off.

Benefits

Decades of international use backing it, approved in 35+ countries as Zadaxin for chronic hepatitis B and immune support during cancer treatment. Supports T-cell maturation and natural killer cell activity based on the international data. Physician-evaluated before anything’s prescribed. Sourced from real compounding pharmacies. Ships across Colorado’s Front Range.

Side effects

Most people tolerate it well at the standard 1.6mg protocol. Mild injection-site reactions are the most commonly reported issue, along with occasional fatigue or headache. Never FDA-approved in the US, so use here is off-label, on clinical judgment. Something feels off after a dose? Stop and call your provider. Pregnant or breastfeeding? Get clearance first.
