What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 derivative that is naturally found in the body and has been found to have various health benefits. It can help lower blood sugar levels, increase insulin secretion, improve heart, liver, and lung function, and slow down or prevent the effects of Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, Semaglutide has been found to effectively reduce appetite by delaying gastric emptying and intestinal motility. Studies have shown that this GLP-1 analog stimulates insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.
What is Tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide is similar to Semaglutide but acts as a dual agonist that mimics GLP-1 and GIP hormones, which are naturally produced in the body and play a role in regulating blood sugar levels and promoting satiety. When receptors are activated, insulin is stimulated to release while glucagon, a hormone that raises our blood sugar, is decreased. This allows improved blood glucose control and effectively slows down gastric emptying leading to increased fullness/reduced food intake.
What is the difference between Semaglutide and Trizepatide?
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1) which acts by mimicking the action of the GLP-1 hormone, which helps regulate blood sugar levels. On the other hand, Tirzepatide is a GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor agonist (GIP) dual agonist. It activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, providing combined effects on glucose control and satiety. Tirzepatide has shown greater weight loss effects compared to semaglutide in clinical trials.

Does Semaglutide or Tirzepatide target areas of fat?
They found treatment with Semaglutide improved body composition by reducing excess body fat, including abdominal fat, and increasing the proportion of lean body mass, or the amount of weight someone carries that is not body fat. The more body weight a participant lost, the greater the improvement in body composition.
